The panel will discuss, analyze, provide insight and compare strategies for using receiverships in lieu of bankruptcy proceedings to manage, operate, restructure, and sell assets or businesses as a going concern, free and clear of liens and encumbrances.

Instructors

Christopher Celentino

Christopher focuses his practice on creditor's rights, fiduciary services litigation, business reorganization and workouts, and insolvency and bankruptcy law. His bankruptcy practice emphasizes representation of creditors and court-appointed trustees in chapter 7 and 11 cases, as well as representation of debtors in chapter 11 cases. He has knowledge of mechanic's lien law and related construction litigation matters, as well as family law and related dissolution matters. His creditor's right practice emphasizes representing lenders and borrowers in workout and restructuring of commercial loans, secured transactions, and lease transactions, and pursuit of creditor's rights in commercial litigation matters. 

Joel Weinberg

Joel B. Weinberg is the CEO and Founder of Insolvency Services Group. He began his career as a corporate and tax lawyer, later specializing in commercial bankruptcy and debt restructuring work for more than 30 years. He has developed significant expertise in bankruptcy alternatives including general assignments, receiverships, and creditor moratorium and composition agreements.

Joel also serves as a mediator in the mediation program established by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. He has been awarded certificates of recognition from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California in connection with his role as a mediator.

Joel obtained his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University. He has lectured and written extensively on a broad range of bankruptcy and reorganization topics including general assignments under California Law. He is also an adjunct professor of law at Loyola Law School, where he teaches bankruptcy law.

Richard Munro

Richard Munro has over 30 years of experience bringing effective leadership to growth and underperforming businesses and improving their performance, measured by outstanding growth in revenue and market share, profits, return on capital employed, and value to shareholders.  He has held senior positions as a CEO, CFO, COO, CRO, Court-appointed Receiver, Court-appointed Expert and fiduciary, strategic advisory positions, and served as a Director on public and private company boards.  Richard is recognized as being very effective in identifying problems that create business underperformance and financial distress, and quickly implementing practical solutions which result in profitable growth, and higher valuation and recoveries for lenders and creditors.  He combines the unique experiences of a CEO and CFO and has extensive successful experience in growing the top line and bottom line in companies with a strong focus on managing operations and increasing cash flow and enterprise value for shareholders.

Richard Golubow

Richard H. Golubow is a founder and managing partner of Winthrop Golubow Hollander, LLP. Richard devotes his practice to and has extensive experience in the areas of Chapter 11 reorganizations, complex bankruptcy litigation, liquidations, out-of-court workouts, acquisitions and sales of distressed assets, Uniform Commercial Code Article 9 foreclosure sales, general assignments for the benefit of creditors, and receiverships. Richard has also been consulted and retained as a bankruptcy, insolvency and financial restructuring expert, and formally designated as a bankruptcy law expert on several occasions.

William B. Freeman
